Nowadays, the term 'Gamma' is considered vague or confusing, so it is replaced by 'OETF (Opto-Electrical Transfer Function)' and 'EOTF (Electro-Optical Transfer Function)'. OETF is the non-linear transfer function of the optical light into the electrical signal in the camera. This used to be called the 'Camera Gamma' or 'Encoding Gamma'. On the contrary, EOTF is the opposite shape of non-linear transfer of electrical signal into optical (visible) light in the display. So, it is used to be called 'Display Gamma'.
